KidGlov, a boutique, full-service advertising, branding and content marketing agency based out of Lincoln and Omaha, Neb., recently welcomed Beth Ostdiek Smith, CEO and founder of Saving Grace Perishable Food Rescue, to its podcast, Agency for Change. The episode explores the great food waste problem in our community and how Saving Grace is working with organizations to get extra food to the people who need it.

“Food is the third largest component of landfill waste in the state and it’s the first in Omaha,” said Kelley Peterson, KidGlov vice president, nonprofit creative director. “It was incredible to learn how Saving Grace works to feed bellies instead of landfills.”

Saving Grace operates the only perishable food rescue in Omaha dedicated to feeding the hungry with nutritious excess food that would otherwise go to waste. They do this by connecting healthy perishable food from local businesses—like restaurants, caterers and more—with nonprofit agencies that use it to feed those most in need—the homeless, children, seniors and more.

During the Agency for Change podcast, Smith spoke about the great waste seen across the food industry, how organizations like Saving Grace are working to put that food to good use and how we can all reduce food waste in our homes.

“We believe people should have a right to healthy food,” said Smith. “Saving Grace works to keep good healthy food out of our landfill and give nutrition to the people who need it. It’s a simple way to affect the community.”
