President of KidGlov Advertising Agency Inspires Women during National Women’s Small Business Month
KidGlov, a boutique marketing and advertising firm serving the greater Lincoln, Omaha and Denver areas, celebrates its 10 th anniversary and National Women’s Small Business Month with words of wisdom to female entrepreneurs through an editorial appearing in the Lincoln Journal Star. Lyn Wineman, president and chief strategist at KidGlov, penned the article which celebrates the great impact women can make by following their passions.
“From an early age, my parents instilled in me the idea that if I worked hard enough, I could do anything I wanted,” said Wineman. The view was unique in the 1970s, where only 4% of businesses were owned by women. Through Wineman’s first decade of her career, she recalls times where she was the only woman in the room but outworked those around her and carefully positioned herself to one day run an advertising Agency.
After 10 years since opening, Wineman’s KidGlov, a marketing and branding agency, is home to 16 employees—all empathetic, creative, collaborative and inspired female leaders.
Female-run businesses are on the rise, but Wineman says we still have a long way to go. For her, it’s important to celebrate the achievements of female entrepreneurs and business owners, but also to inspire future generations of women through mentorship and leading by example. She also notes the importance of creating work environments that help women thrive.
“The most challenging years of my career were when my three children were young. Businesses have much to gain by attracting women to the workplace but there must be a shift to create work environments and practices that will help women thrive while also balancing a personal life,” said Wineman.
Wineman’s KidGlov appeals to women business leaders through both culture and mission. The advertising agency’s team, known as changemakers, operate under the mission that when we work together, we can make a difference. The group collaborates with agencies who are also affecting positive change. They frequently work with female-driven organizations and groups assisting women and families like St. Monica’s (stmonicas.com), an organization that empowers women suffering from addiction, and HopeSpoke (hopespoke.org), an organization helping children and their families since 1949.
KidGlov offers a full array of marketing services from strategic planning and traditional marketing to the latest in digital and social media. This highly experienced team has worked across industries and is quickly becoming a resource for local non-profits whose missions align with their own.
Over 10 years in business, KidGlov has won several accolades including top honors at the American Marketing Association awards in Lincoln and Omaha. They’ve also been acknowledged at the American Advertising Federation Nebraska Awards and have been named one of the Best Places to Work.
Wineman attributes her success to those who have supported her along the way and now hopes to encourage other women to continue moving their passions forward. “A framed poster of Rosie the Riveter has hung on the wall of every place I have ever worked,” said Wineman. “I like what Rosie represents: hard work, courage and ingenuity. We wouldn’t be the people we are today without the inspiration of our parents, partners and mentors who help us along the way.”
