KidGlov Advertising Agency Help Nonprofits Win at Virtual Fundraising

KidGlov, a boutique marketing and advertising agency based out of Lincoln and Omaha, Neb., says nonprofits can win big with virtual fundraising. In a recent editorial, penned by Kelley Peterson, KidGlov vice president and nonprofit creative director, the marketing agency says virtual fundraising can’t be ignored for many nonprofits.

“The pandemic has only increased the community’s need for most nonprofit services,” said Peterson. “Flagship fundraisers mean all the difference to ensure nonprofits can ensure their missions reach those in need.”

From galas to fun runs, fundraising events are important for nonprofit organizations. But against the backdrop of a global pandemic, and a new age of social distancing, organizations are facing a tough year without signature events. Many have turned to virtual fundraising efforts. And even with the COVID-19 vaccine beginning to be distributed, spring, summer and even fall event season must rely heavily on virtual efforts.

“In 2020, we worked with a number of nonprofits to transform their signature fundraising events to the virtual sphere,” said Peterson. “From auctions to annual meetings and even brand new capital campaigns, our team learned that with a bit of creativity, a lot of familiarity with Zoom and just a splash of sparkle, virtual fundraising is definitely the ‘new black’ of the nonprofit world.”

The advertising agency suggests a series of best practices and tips to help nonprofits tackle the new virtual fundraising world. From investing in quality tech teams to pre-delivered packages and shorter messages, the team says creativity is key in connecting with virtual donors. “For the time being, virtual is here to stay. Optimize the virtual medium by thinking outside the box, reconnecting with your goals and providing multiple ways for donors to connect,” said Peterson.

The experts at KidGlov advertising agency tapped into their creativity in 2020 to support clients with their fundraising efforts. To help one client launch a capital campaign, the team ditched the traditional banquet in exchange for social media fundraising efforts. Peterson said a series of short videos that were fun, eye-catching and easy-to-share let a whole new audience of donors connect with the organization in ways they hadn’t before.

“There really is a lot of opportunity to grow and connect with new donors during these virtual events,” said Peterson.

Peterson, a veteran in the marketing and advertising industry for over 20 years, is no stranger to working with changemaking organizations. She’s played a creative hand in developing and refreshing campaigns for CEDARS Home for Children, Dreamweaver Foundation, Foodbank of Lincoln, HopeSpoke, Lincoln Community Foundation, Nebraska Cultural Endowment and St. Monica’s. Peterson is a past president of the National Professional Chapters Council of the American Marketing Association as well as past president of the local chapter—Lincoln AMA.
